Alcohol Screening Test Technician (D.O.T)

Description
US DOT Screening Test Technician Training
49 CFR, Part 40 – Procedures for Transportation Workplace Alcohol Testing Programs

This training class is designed to qualify individuals seeking to conduct USDOT Alcohol Screening Test. The classes are approximately 2 hours in length each and will cover all required topics to qualify as a USDOT Screening Test Technician

The topics covered are:
• Administrative Provisions
• Employer Responsibilities
• STT Personnel
• Collection Sites, Forms, Equipment, and Supplies Used in DOT Alcohol Screening Testing
• ASD Collections Procedures
• Problems in Alcohol Tests

All aspects of DOT Alcohol Screening Testing are covered. Participants will be expected to perform at least 5 mock collections and complete a quiz successfully. A certificate will be issued to each successful participant that will be valid for 5 years.

NOTE: This class qualifies individuals to conduct USDOT Screening tests only. Screening tests are the initial test a donor takes. If the screening test is negative, then it is recorded on the USDOT Alcohol Testing Form and forwarded to the employer as “negative”. If the screening test is positive, then the DOT rules require a confirmation test within 15-30 minutes. This rules out the possibility of residual alcohol products such as mouthwash, breath spray, etc. All positive tests must be confirmed via a USDOT Breath Alcohol Technician on an Evidential Breath Tester within 30 minutes of the screening test.
